LGBTI Members
The NASUWT has a range of campaigns and activities supporting LGBTI members.
The National LGBTI Advisory Committee has informed policy development on LGBTI issues, including civil partnerships and working with key national partners.
These include Stonewall through the Education for All coalition and the provision of guidance on tackling homophobic bullying and the implications of the 2010 Equality Act.
The NASUWT has strong representation on the TUC LGBT+ Committee.
NASUWT at Durham PRIDE 2026

NASUWT is committed to supporting local and regional Pride events throughout the UK as part of its work on LGBTI equality. As part of this commitment, NASUWT also supports UK Pride as a National Union event.
In 2026 NASUWT North East attended Durham Pride on Saturday 30 May. The weather was glorious and the atmosphere was amazing. The NASUWT General Secretary joined us at our stall after completing the march, alongside other Trade Unions and local miners with their banners. All who contributed to make this years event the biggest and best yet.
NASUWT members were accompanied by the band DrumDin who were excellent as usual and really contributed to the carnival atmosphere along with the stilt walkers and those brave enough to adorn wonderful outfits in the heat!!!
Children could make their own magic chromatography bookmarks or get a colourful temporary tattoo. Adults could buy raffle tickets to win a rainbow hamper, or if they had their photo taken in our selfie frame and liked and shared their picture on Instagram, then they could win passes for the bands later in the day.
