About the Event
Dealing with members’ problems can be challenging. This course focuses on skills essential in successfully handling the more complex problems that can come the way of Local Association Caseworkers. The course teaches how to:
- deal with problems in a systematic manner;
- interview members;
- research documents and papers; and
- assemble a ‘case’.
There are opportunities to discuss issues with experienced tutors. Upon successful completion of this and the mandatory Discrimination Casework course, participants will be accredited by the Union as a ‘Casework Representative’. After achieving this accreditation, it is important that Casework Representatives keep their skills and knowledge updated through attending relevant Casework Briefings. Those who have completed NASUWT Workplace Representatives, or who are actively engaged in negotiation at either Local Association or Federation level, are eligible to apply for a place on these courses.
